Essentially there are two styles of mounts for Tyco cars - narrow and wide pan, and different bodies fall under one or the other. It may not be 100% accurate but it's close - some of the wheelbase lengths might actually be different, but all the body mounting types are correct. I tried to cover all the bases of each style of chassis, and as many of the bodies as I could find (or remember) info for. Come to think of it, they are making Tjets as well, but those are screw-mounted like the old ones.Īs for Tyco stuff, see my post here about body/chassis compatibility. Auto World is making repros of the old AFX chassis and bodies that all work with current and vintage AFX wide mounts. However, if you're looking for that "pancake" feel, you could always just go with an AFX magnatraction or similar chassis. Tjets with mounting screws are a whole different beast.
Most of the newer chassis (Mega G, SG+, Turbo/SRT) either come with an adapter piece that lets you mount wide AFX bodies on narrow mounts, or they are available aftermarket. There are basically 3 body mounts for Aurora - the original Tjet mounting screws, the AFX-style wide mounts, and the narrow mounts. Dirk, I will just echo what others have said about the AFX cars.
